Localised Structure Repair (LSR) refers to the process of fixing or restoring specific areas or components of a structure that have suffered deterioration or damage. LSR may involve mending cracks, addressing corrosion, reinforcing structural elements, or conducting foundational repairs. This technique can also be effectively employed for drain patching.

At Grey-Water, our standard procedure commences with an initial inspection of the drainage system, which will need a survey to assess the condition of the pipes. This survey helps identify issues such as cracks, fractures, leaks, or root intrusion. Once the problem has been identified, we determine the sections of the drain in need of repair. This is where LSR comes into play, as it focuses on rectifying specific areas that have suffered damage or deterioration, rather than necessitating the replacement of the entire drainage system.

Prior to commencing any repair work, thorough cleaning of the drain is essential to eliminate debris and obstructions. This ensures that the repair materials adhere effectively to the interior walls of the drain. High pressure jetting is commonly employed for this purpose, capable of clearing even the most stubborn blockages.

Depending on the extent of the damage, we may use patch liners made from materials like fiberglass or epoxy resin. These liners are inserted into the damaged section of the drain, inflated, and subsequently cured to establish a new, structurally sound inner lining. This proves to be an efficient method for remedying cracks, holes, or minor damage without the need for extensive excavation of sections of the drainage system.

For smaller cracks or joints that require sealing, we employ specialised grouts and sealants. These materials are applied directly to the affected area, creating a waterproof and secure seal.

In more severe cases where the structural integrity of the drain is compromised, our usual recommendation would be pipe relining. This procedure involves the installation of a new pipe within the existing one, using resin-soaked liners that harden into a durable pipe.

Upon completion of the repair work, we conduct a thorough quality assurance check. Additional camera inspections and tests to verify the integrity of the pipe, ensuring its proper functionality. Once the repairs are validated, we clean the site, restoring any disrupted areas, such as driveways or landscaping, to their original condition.
